Karma Yoga Volunteering
Volunteer tasks during Yoga Healing Arts Camp:
--Fill water containers with filtered water
--Keep space cleared of clutter and natural debris
--Help maintain tarps before and after windy storms
--If you use one solar shower, please fill 2 showers (teachers may shower for free).
--Come early to help set up camp!
From the time the Rainbow Gathering site is announced each year, volunteers are invited to help choose a flat, dry, large space within the site and to join in creating the physical infrastructure of Yoga Camp.
The rewards of coming early are manifold. In addition to seeing the Camp blossom from three campers to over a thousand, the yogi also benefits from the quiet of setup in intense practice with devoted yogic community. Setup is a time when the early mornings are spent reading Vedic texts on the techniques of yoga, the morning classes are small and intense, and the work consists of designing the space- hanging tarps, climbing trees, laying groundcover, creating altars and sacred spaces, digging latrines, hanging showers, and ensuring that one of the springwater pipelines gets laid nearby.
