Yoga Healing Arts Teacher Information

Information for Teachers

3 rules for teaching at Yoga Healing Arts Camp:

1. Teachers must respect the spiritual space of all students, leaving any religious dogma outside of the space of class.

2. Teachers must respect the physical space of the students, acting appropriately with members of the gender that is their sexual preference. If there are any complaints there will be a council of members of the complaintant's sex to determine what action should be taken.

We have not had any complaints of inappropriate behavior by Yoga Camp teachers thus far, and this guideline is to help ensure that the space remains safe for all. Examples that some teachers set are asking the student's permission before making any physical adjustments during class and suggesting same sex partners for partnered activities.

3. Teachers pick a time and a space for teaching, and teach in that same time and space each day. If teachers have claimed a teaching space for a particular time, they must show up at that time to teach. If a teacher will not be able to come to teach in their slot they must let a focalizer know a day ahead of time, so that another class can be arranged for the space. If a teacher misses their time slot without notice, they forfeit their teaching slot for that day and each day thereafter. Why? Teachers have signed up for valuable class time. In the peak of the gathering, there will be more teachers to teach than there are spaces to teach in. Out of respect for those teachers and for the maximum informational outflow, the spaces must be utilized as planned.

Yoga Healing Arts Camp Teachers meet in circle together twice at the Gathering. One circle is in the beginning of the main week to meet each other. The Yoga Camp Vision Circle is on the 3rd of July to reflect on what went well about their week and what could change and grow for the next year.

Yoga Camp teachers are requested to ask for volunteers after their class and refer them to the focalizer area to help with tasks to help the camp run smoothly (see Karma Yoga).
